Power Lifting Team Sets Records at SPF Event

The power lifting team at Foust Fitness took home the gold at the SPF Tennessee State Power Lifting and Bench Press Championship. Veteran power lifter Paul Foust made a huge comeback after taking five years off from competition with a first place finish and a state, national and world record with a dead lift of 655 pounds in the Men's Open and Submasters 308-pound class. First-time lifter 15-year-old Demarcus Foster, who had been training for one month, took first and a national and world record in the 13-15 division in the 181-pound class with a dead lift of 415 pounds and a bench press of 195 pounds.

Asa Armour did the full power meed (squat, bench, dead-lift) and placed second in the men's open 198-pound class with a squat of 450 pounds, bench of 315 pounds, and a dead lift of 475 pounds. This was Armour's first power lifting contest.

Jeff Steidle placed second in the men's open 198-pound class dead-lift, with a lift of 535 pounds, which was a personal record. This was also Steidle's first power lifting competition.

All four men are now qualified for the SPF National Power Lifting and Bench Press Championship in Nashville.
